You may not have heard of the towns in this area but you’ll certainly recognize the scenery. These are the Tuscan landscapes in the photography books: the smooth, green or golden hills with a single, impeccably placed farmhouse/village/flock of sheep/row of cypresses. As the pictures imply, this is not one of Tuscany’s more densely populated areas. Nor are there many day-trippers; public transport is desultory at best and tour buses ploughing the route between Siena and the famous vineyards to the south prefer to follow the autostradas. The property is splendid and the views are magnificent. We felt as though we were at our own home but were cared for like royalty. It is quiet at night, and the night time views of Siena are hypnotising. John at Tuscany Now was very helpful. His follow-up was excellent.
