Lazio: the region of the Eternal City. Isn´t that enough?
With a capital like Rome, it’s not surprising that the rest of Lazio is somewhat overshadowed. But get out of the city and you’ll discover a region that’s not only beautiful – hilly in the north, parched and rugged in the south – but also rich in history and culture. The region was formerly known to English travellers by its Roman name, Latium, although this version of the name is now rarely used.
Much of the regions can easily be seen on a day-trip from the capital, such as the ancient Roman port of Ostia Antica and the splendour of the Emperor Hadrian's villa at Tivoli. Further afield, in the north of Lazio, a tour to Etruria is not to be missed: visits to the Etruscan sites of Tarquinia and Cerveteri provide a fascinating insight into Etruscan civilisation.
f you are after a nature break take a tour to the beautiful lakes of Bracciano, Vico and Bolsena. The south arguably holds Lazio's most appealing enclaves. The Province of Latina runs for 100km along the coast, between Rome and Campania, and includes stretches of sandy beach and charming resorts like Sperlonga, and the Pontine Islands.
Renting Lazio villas is an unique way to soak in all this history and culture.

We really have enjoyed our stay in this wonderful villa. Even thought the pool was too cold this time of year the weather has been quite good. We spent one day in Rome which was great and would recommend to see the small town Nemi and check out the restaurant Pagnanelli in Castel Gandolfo, service and food world class. Now its back to winter in Norway.
