Sleeps 10 | Bedrooms 5 | Bathrooms 4 | Near Lake of Bracciano, Lazio

Independent villa | Private pool | Air conditioned bedrooms | Maid included |

Overview

A pretty contemporary villa designed along traditional lines with air-conditioned bedrooms, Villa Macchiano is set in the gentle hills near Lake Bracciano, a short drive north of Rome. The villa's large garden with majestic cypresses and extensive lawns is surrounded with cultivated fields, ensuring complete privacy. The views are lovely from the comfortably furnished interior of the house and from its loggia designed for lounging and al fresco meals. The lounging and sunbathing opportunities are even better on the wide flagstone terrace around the swimming pool. Treasures from both the Etruscan and Roman civilisations abound in this area, which also offers wonderful walking opportunities around its lakes and superb golf.

What a wonderful relaxing place we loved the pool the diving pool, the sounds of the crickets, the wagtails 9the occasional sheep with bells and farmers dogs) as well as the ever present help of Domingo and Mary who help you slow down and enjoy La Dolce Vita! The Conad in Campagnano provides all you need provision wise and if you want to venture out the Amphitheatre and Etruscan tombs at Sutri are about half an hour drive towards Viterbo a stop over at the waterfalls at Treja although if you want to see the huge falls you need to go to Le Cascate di Marmore. Lago di Bracciano is beautiful the castle at Bracciano and Trevignano a jewel with many little restaurants on the waterfront. The train journey to Rome is a luxury air-conditioned, but recommend going early if you want to avoid the queues in the Vatican city not to mention the heat. Rome is elegant and spectacular and highly recommended, very reasonable and close enough to come back to this haven for a cooling dip in the pool couldn't ask for more and very sad to leave. Thanks you every one of this wonderful place and all the care given during your stay.

This was our second stay in the villa, we would live here. Chiampino airport was much better than Fiumicino, we got our bags and car very quickly even though we had been here before, arriving from a different airport and travelling in the dark, and somehow we took a wrong exit and got seriously lost. Thank goodness, the owner Massimo was staying with Domingo and Mary and guided us here….it was great to meet him the next day what a delightful gentleman. May is a great time to come to Italy the air is fresher than the humidity of August but the sun is still hot, and there's hardly any mosquitoes. The Conad supermarket is great for everything you need and we enjoyed the hospitality of two restaurants in Campagnano Il Forno and La Giara. We have made lots of use of the fabulous pool and football pitch and great to have the internet here this time. Again we visited the waterfalls and Teja beautiful but we couldn't go into the water as there was a sign saying tad-poles/frogs. The thermal pool at Viterbo was very relaxing and I think reasonably priced as we leave the villa we are heading into Rome for our last day and we are hoping the water park Hydromania is opening for the first day of the season, we will stay over night in an airport hotel before an early flight. Once again many thanks to Domingo and Mary such a lovely happy couple who are there to help in any way it's very comforting knowing they are so close by.

Second stay- just as relaxing. The pool was as popular as ever. We recommend the pizzas in Campagnano. The train to Rome form Cesano is very cheap and hassle free.

This is our second holiday in Villa Macchiano which has been as delightful as last year. The best ice cream in Campagnano. The pizzas and bread in Il Forno are superb. Ciampino airport is much easier for car hire than Fiumicino. We will be back.

The villa was lovely. The caretaker very friendly. The cleaners were also friendly and helpful. The air conditioning worked very well. Went to Rome early to avoid traffic, the open top sightseeing bus was well worth it, the queue for the Sistine Chapel were long. Lake Bracciano really beautiful.

We had a wonderful week at the villa, the pool was great for swimming. Had dinner at Lotta in Campagnano and was the best pasta we have ever had also we can not speak Italian and they were over helpful. Visited Bracciano where also had a wonderful meal. Went to the hot springs at Viterbo but disappointed as it was a pool rather than natural springs but Viterbo was very nice. We were also mad enough to drive into Rome and this is the most amazing city I have ever been to; but will need to go back as there is a lot to see, thank you.

The supersize pool with diving board was a hit with kids and adults alike. The welcome and hospitality provided by the caretaker and his family was second to none. The staff were very friendly, especially to the children. Also very discreet - they did not get in the way when cleaning or maintaining the property, even when we were at the villa at the same time as they were working.
