Overview

Villa Lungomonte sits gracefully at the top of a long drive, surrounded by a walled park that extends to the small village of Asciano Pisano. Constructed in the 15th century as a grand country villa, it offers all the grace of a bygone era combined with modern conveniences such as a lift, satellite television and fax. The ground floor features high, vaulted ceilings with vast living areas, including a ballroom. The bedrooms, distributed over the two upper floors, are all spacious and furnished with antiques. Broad lawns lead from the villa to a large swimming pool partly shaded by umbrella pines and an ancient gingko tree. A sweeping view that includes the Tower of Pisa and a full summer kitchen at the pool mean that one can see the essential sights without actually having to drive anywhere or queue up. There are several restaurants within a few minutes' walk of the villa, and those wanting a little more exercise can explore the property's hundreds of acres of forests and olive groves extending up into the Monte Pisano.

Location

 At the edge of the Monte Pisano, a small but very dramatic range of mountains between Pisa, 20 minutes, and Lucca, 25 minutes. The nearest shops are just outside the property gates at Asciano Pisano, 400m/yards. To the east is the splendid Certosa di Pisa, 15 minutes, a 14C Carthusian monastery full of historic oddities. To the north is Torre del Lago, 30 minutes, site of the annual Puccini festival, and just beyond is Viareggio and the first of the Versilia beaches. The centre of Florence is reached in just over 1 hour.

Grounds

 An elegant lawned garden with clipped hedges and beautiful old trees within an estate of several hundred acres. The swimming pool, 10 x 20m/32 x 64 feet, is set about 50m/yards from the house across level lawns. A long shaded dining table for 26 stands outside the pool house, which houses a full summer kitchen, changing rooms and a WC. Outdoor shower.

Assistance

 Assistance is provided by live-in staff who occupy an apartment on the top floor of the villa with a separate entrance; the owners, who speak English, are easily reached by telephone. Services included in the rental fee, and optional services available, are noted under Price and Availability.

 Tennis within 10 minutes. 18-hole golf within 30 minutes at Pietrasanta. Spas at Montecatini Terme and Monsummano Terme, just over 1 hour.

 The swimming pool, 10 x 20m/32 x 64 feet, has a depth of 1.2-2.70m/4-8 feet and a ladder for entry/exit.

Staffing ans Services

 Breakfast - Euro 8 per person (between 0830 and 1030).
Dinner - Euro 30 per person, drinks excluded. To commence no earlier than 19.30 and no later than 21.00 (3 course menu).

The shopping, organising of the menus, laying of the table, serving, clearing of the table and cleaning of the kitchen and waiter service are included in the above rates.. A sample menu can be obtained by contacting extra services in Tuscany Now.

You need to pre arrange your meals prior to your arrival so contact extraservices@tuscanynow.com and advise us accordingly. Remember that if any members have any allergies or food intolerances, you must advise us and of course if you have any personal preferences.

A light lunch can be arranged on demand.
-07.30: One member of staff, the waiter, arrives via the rear entrance without disturbing any guests. Laying of the table for breakfast.
- 08.30 – 10.30: Preparing and serving continental breakfast in the dining room.
-09.00: Two members of staff, the maids, arrive and commence with rearranging and tidy of the sitting room and living areas until 13.00.
-10.30 – 11.30: With breakfast now finished the table shall be cleared, food stored, cleaning of the kitchen, making of beds, cleaning of bathrooms.
-12.00: All members of staff leave unless a light lunch is required. For further details please see extra services available.
-12.00 – 15.00: A light lunch can be arranged on demand.

-15.00 - 18.00: English speaking concierge.
-18.00: Two members of staff, cook and waitress return. Lay dinner table. Cook will commence preparation of dinner.
-20.00: Dinner is served either in the park in front or behind the villa. For further details please see dinner menu. Table is cleared (shall be cleared the following day if guests have not finished by 22.00), food stored, kitchen tidied and cleaned.
-22.00: The chef closes the kitchen and departs.
-23.00: The waiter departs.

One English speaking concierge day time hours. Cook that cooks breakfast and dinner. Two maids 4 hours each per day, 09.00 - 13.00. -One gardener for pool and grounds upkeep.

Wine is purchased at high standard local cantina’s which have a wide variety of wines from the Tuscany region and which organises wine-tasting. For further details please see extra services available. However guests may want to buy a different wine and may do so by themselves and inform the cook not to purchase any. All meat is bought from local organic farm. No OGM. Suffers of allergies or vegetarians can be catered for.
