Overview

A large and easy-going contemporary house, Villa Isabella is set in the hills between the Chianti Classico wine-producing area and the impossibly picturesque hill town of San Gimignano, only 15 minutes away. With two kitchens and air conditioning on the ground floor main house. A choice of indoor and outdoor living areas and a two-bedroom pool house, the property could not be better suited to a large group of friends or family. The villa is built into a gentle hillside and designed so that both levels have direct access from the exterior. The main living room, dining room, kitchen and barbeque area are on the lower level; upstairs, the bedrooms are clustered around a second sitting room and a kitchen that opens to a dining loggia overlooking the pool. The two buildings are nicely decorated in a warm, uncluttered style. There is plenty to do and see in the area: hill towns and wineries abound, and there is tennis, horseback riding and golf with easy driving distance.

Location

 Tignano is a tiny hamlet in the Val d’Elsa, just west of Chianti Classico and set in some of Tuscany’s loveliest countryside. The nearest shops are at Barberino Val D’Elsa, 3 km/2 miles; Poggibonsi, 7 km/4 miles. The famous hill town of San Gimignano is only 20 minutes away to the west; to the east, 22km/14 miles, is Castellina-in-Chianti, a hill town with a long history of wine-making. Florence and Siena are both reached in under 1 hour.

Grounds

 A very nicely maintained garden skirted by open fields and forests. The swimming pool, 6 x 12m/20 x 40 feet, which has a diving board, is set just below the house on a grassy terrace well supplied with loungers.

Assistance

 Assistance is provided locally by the caretaker, who speaks English and lives about half an hour away. Services included in the rental fee, and optional services available, are noted under Price and Availability.
