Overview

Val di Coreto is a charming stone farmhouse set on a hill that literally rises in Umbria and falls in Lazio. The location is exceptional, with wonderful walking trails and easy access by car to the great historic wine centres of two regions, Orvieto in Umbria and Montefiascone in Lazio. This beautifully restored house is decorated in a simple but elegant rustic style, with air-conditioning bedrooms, in keeping with the original beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. The views are lovely, covering woodlands, olive groves and calanche - limestone cliffs. A small swimming pool is set in the garden and a pretty dining loggia off the kitchen provides the perfect setting for al fresco meals. Nearby Civitella di Bagnoregio is an extraordinarily picturesque half-ruined village that can only be reached over a dramatic footbridge.

Location

 Comfortably off the beaten track in a lovely farming area east of Lake Bolsena. The nearest shops and restaurants and tennis courts are in Bagnoregio, 5km/3 miles. The town of Bolsena itself, with its lovely lakefront, is 20 minutes away, as is medieval Montefiascone. The famous 'dying town' of Civita Bagnoregio is a winding 25 minutes' drive (and a 10-minute walk across a footbridge). Orvieto lies 40 minutes to the north and Viterbo the same distance to the south.
