Vecchia Fattoria

(x 11 people)

Sleeps 11 | Bedrooms 5 | Bathrooms 4 | Near Montepulciano, Tuscany

Independent villa | Private pool | Air conditioned bedrooms | Maid included |

The Tuscan term fattoria refers to a working farm, where grapes or olives are pressed and processed for wine or oil. In medieval times the Vecchia Fattoria was the centre of one of the Grand Duke of Tuscany's richest estates. Today its lovely old wrought iron gates lead straight into the little main square of Bettolle, a quiet hilltop village with several good small restaurants. The house is very comfortably furnished in an elegant old world style, with a vast high-ceilinged living room featuring a spectacular carved stone fireplace. There are whimsical touches in every air-conditioned bedroom, although the bathrooms are modern and, for the most part, ensuite. The old cypresses and umbrella pines in the manicured garden bear testimony to the property's history, and screen a nicely situated pool with an adjacent dining area and summer kitchen.

Villa Vecchia Fatorria was fabulous! The location was perfect. The grounds were so beautiful, really you didn't want to leave the Villa. Renata was our onsite caretaker and she was fabulous, spoke excellent English and was so very sweet. We also met the owners and they were engaging and gave us lots of advice on the towns and villages we were planning to visit. We went to Montepulciano, Volterra, Cortona, Siena and Orvieto just to name a few. Each town was a 30 to 60 min drive. The countryside was gorgeous, we were able to really take in Tuscany and all it had to offer. Including a few Wineries that we totally enjoyed! We had Renata orchestrate an Italian dinner, veal scalopini, chicken cacciatore, bruschetta, salad and a delicious fruit tart desert. It was over the top. We were served in the beautiful dinning room at our Villa. All excellent.

We spent a wonderful week at Vecchia Fattoria. The villa was perfect for our family of 11. Spacious bedrooms, comfortable beds, updated lovely bathrooms. Beautiful setting, we loved everything about it. Owners were close by, charming but unobtrusive. Renata was a delight to work with, willing to cater to our every whim. Her cooking was fantastic. Our grandkids will never forget the experience. They want to go back to that exact place. (One of our grandchildren lost a new bracelet on the grounds. Renata found it after we departed and shipped it to us promptly). When we first saw the little town we were a bit taken aback because it’s a working town, not a tourist town, but that was what made it so charming in the end. We walked everywhere for baked goods, gelato. I have recommended it to friends.

The villa and surrounding grounds are spectacular. The villa has a fascinating and notable history. We did not expect such a beautiful house, garden, pool, privacy, and artistic touches. The caretakers were very attentive and provided extra services. In fact, for one evening they even purchased an extra channel so our guests could watch the world series. We were fortunate to meet the lovely owner and learn in detail the history of the villa. Our entire experience at Vecchia Frattoria was beyond expectation and unforgettable!

We LOVED the property. It was beautifully landscaped, decorated and kept up. It is described well and pictured it well. There is no way to completely show by pictures how lovely it is.

Everything was wonderful. Loved all the space - having lots of bathrooms, the great dining room. It was extremely well equipped with everything we needed. It was so quiet and peaceful. Loved that the town was not a "tourist" town. We loved our meals "at home". Travelling with a toddler, if was so nice to be able to enjoy the evening after she was in bed.

We loved the space in the villa and the grounds and the wonderful pool but still being in the middle of a town. All wonderful.

We loved the entire Villa and location. It was absolutely beautiful! it was the best experience. I would be thrilled to stay again. Renata the caretaker was wonderful! She was extremely helpful and a very nice person. We loved the Osteria in the town of Betolle. Although they could not speak English, they loved us. We went twice during our stay. We also very much enjoyed Walter Riddells. Lovely restaurant! I would highly recommend Tuscany Now to all my friends and family.

We adored the pool and grounds. The house was filled with charm and the housekeeper/cook was outstanding! The pool was much appreciated because it was close to 100 degrees every day we were there! The location was outstanding for day trips to all the wonderful cities in Tuscany....Siena, Florence, and Montepulciano.

Everything was beautiful, grand, and well-laid out. The kitchen was very useful, the gardens magnificent, the pool area user friendly and beautiful. We especially liked the front outdoor sitting/eating area especially in the evening. Having access to the adorable town of Betolli via a "secret door" in the gate was terrific!

Deborah Costa

The rooms were spacious with en suite baths and the furnishings were exceptional

Vecchia Fattoria was wonderful! We loved being part of the little town of Bettolle, which is not a tourist town- but real Italy! We shopped in the deli and got to know the local shopkeepers as we were there for 5 weeks. The house was old, spacious, full of character and most of all it felt like home from the moment we arrived. Great swimming pool and surrounding area. The pool being separate from the house was a bonus as we had our 18 month old grandson with us for two weeks and the whole area around the house and pool was so safe. Another huge plus was Renata! She was helpful, warm, friendly- would do anything to help- and encouraged my very poor Italian with a smile!

The location was ideal for exploring all of the main towns in Tuscany. The property itself was very spacious, with lovely common areas downstairs and well-appointed bedrooms. The pool and barbecue area was spectacular. All in all just a fantastic experience.

We loved just about everything about this property---the rooms in the villa, the grounds, the close access to the village and especially the owners (who were in residence at the time) and the caretakers.

Beautiful villa, great setting. Enjoyed our evening glass of Chianti in the gazebo. Lovely weather meant we took advantage of the swimming pool.

Very conviently located for our daily excursions. A elegant old world villa with lots of charm and very well maintained.

Allen Brock

The beauty of the villa and grounds, the details inside and out designed to make our stay memorable and comfortable, and the care shown in its upkeep are matched by the warm, unobtrusive attention given by the gracious caretaker, Renata Bernardini. We stayed for two weeks, the first with friends and the second a once-in-a-lifetime introduction to Tuscany for our children and grandchildren. We had a splendid time and can't wait to convince a few other couples to join us to return!

Patricia Scalzi

The grounds were beautiful and the house was quite comfortable.
