A lovely old stone farmhouse in the heart of Chianti, Monterosa has just been fully restored with tremendous attention to detail and tradition. Beautifully decorated with antiques and comfortable contemporary furniture, and fitted with an exceptionally nice kitchen, air conditioned bedrooms, the house features a dining loggia that captures a tremendous view over the valley and a private swimming pool set in an olive grove.

Location

 Tuscany's most famous area never fails to please: the landscape is spectacular, the food delicious and there is something of interest around every corner. The nearest shops are in the wee hamlet of Vagliagli, 2km/1 mile, or the pretty fortified town of Castellina-in-Chianti, 15 minutes. 15 minutes to the south is Siena with its glorious Campo. Hundreds of villages and wineries to visit on foot, by bicycle or by car, and three of Italy’s finest hill towns for excursions: Monteriggioni, 25 minutes, San Gimignano, 45 minutes, and Volterra, 1 hour.

Grounds

 A simple but very pretty country garden. The private swimming pool, 2.5 x 6m/8 x 20 feet, is set in an olive grove at the edge of the garden, with wonderful views from its wooden deck.

Assistance

 The very pleasant local caretaker lives nearby; although charming and very helpful, she does not speak English. Services included in the rental fee, and optional services available, are noted under Price and Availability.

Activities

 Tennis within 10 minutes. Riding stables 30 minutes. 18-hole golf at Circolo del Golf dell'Ugolino, 40 minutes away also at Golf course La Bagnaia 35 km away.
