(x 2 people)

Sleeps 2 | Bedrooms 2 | Bathrooms 2 | South of Todi, Umbria

Independent villa | Private pool | Hot tub | Maid included |

Overview

Set in a peaceful valley just below San Gemini, a bustling and very pretty hilltop village, Il Cerro is a fully modernised farmhouse with many typically Umbrian features. Everything about the house was designed for ease, comfort and convenience, from the very well equipped fitted kitchen to the two loggias furnished for outdoor dining and lounging, and the hot tub positioned between them. The tiled floors and high, beamed ceilings keep the rooms cool in the summer, and an open fireplace provides warmth and cheer on rainy days. A lawned garden scented with roses, jasmine and rosemary surrounds the house and its pool, and leads to the edge of the forest. The view could hardly be more pastoral, an open landscape of fields and forests framed by the end of the valley.

Beautiful villa-wonderful relaxing, it was exactly what I hoped for, for our honeymoon, my wife had a lovely time too, especially in the hot tub, although don't spend to long there as that sting for a while afterwards…chlorine…places to visit Assisi, the waterfall, also if you get the chance to go with Elena and Piero to the local vineyard-go-fantastic wine and the farmer is a great guide - wine straight form the barrel and now a few words from the Mrs; we had a wonderful honeymoon here at Il Cerro- peaceful evenings playing chess, listening to the music and drinking fabulous wine. It truly was a gorgeous stay. I recommend the waterfalls at Marmone.

This is an amazing villa that exposes the beauty and piece of the Italian countryside. We had an amazing time as a family with very special memories. The scenery is breathtaking and no picture can capture the beauty of the place and the mountains. The kids enjoyed the fruits in the trees around the villa, very sweet and fresh. The pool was cool and great with the very nice weather. This is a very safe and peaceful place we felt at home after the first night in the house. We all fell in love with the well behaved Nerina the cat, she is very well mannered and friendly with the children. Thank you for a special memory.

My husband booked this as a surprise for me for our honeymoon and we have enjoyed two wonderful weeks here. The walk into San Gemini is lovely fabulous views, wild flowers and on your return the smells of lavender and rosemary welcome you back. San Gemini is a great village the locals are so friendly we frequented the bar as well as sampling the delicious food at Taverna Torchio and La Pecora Nera. We also spent one evening at a local festa in one of the communal areas. I couldn't recommend this enough if you are here at the right time of the year. We enjoyed food cooked over fire, plenty of local wine and a live band which we danced the night away. The villa is fantastic, comfortable homely, secluded.. We enjoyed plenty of sunshine also some stunning sunsets. Elena and Piero truly could not have been more helpful or friendly; they gave us a very interesting tour of San Nicolo. The house keepers were also diligent and discrete. Thank you.

From the helpful and considerate welcome in San Gemini by Elena and Piero a perfect beginning. The property has been well restored and a perfect getaway, but not too far from the delightful meals, views and culture. Civilisation on the door step but still isolated from all the things you go on holiday to get away from. The history of the area is evident all around as is the passion the local people have for their area. An important visit to the San Francesco piazza tonight and a band were playing to an appreciative audience. The town is a real delight-clean-tidy and full of helpful and friendly people. , waiting to take the time to coach me through my faltering Italian to get what we wanted. The village has history and charm and has also been well restored in keeping with it's history. Time to say good bye to a villa that has provided excellent memories.

An excellent tranquil base with all the mod cons, whether you we're staying by the pool to relax or take the short drive to one of southern Umbria many wonderful sights. Although San Gemini may not feature in many guides due to its size it was one of the friendliest villages we have had the delight of visiting. Tuscany Now's local representatives were only to eager to help with any queries we had.

We would like to thank Marina the cat for allowing us to stay in her beautiful home and making us so welcome. She was there every morning to say hello. Il Cerro is an amazing place to stay and explore the delights of Umbria we did all the major places and every time we returned home marina and the lovely pool were waiting for us. A big thank you to everyone who look after us during our stay. And a special thanks to Elena and Piero for helping us print off our boarding passes.

First visit to Il Cerro but I'm sure it will not be the last. This is a real tranquil isolated escape from a hectic work life. We had had minor problems with the pool which were fixed in no time at all. Excellent service. San Gemini is fantastic and I am sure we will come again.

San Gemini was a delightful small village away from the tourist traps. It had everything you could want, from restaurants, shops, history, etc. It was a great location to go on day trips with it's proximity to motorways.

We booked Il Cerro hoping for total relaxation, privacy and sunshine and that exactly what we got. We have had the most utterly wonderful two weeks here and are very sad to leave. On the rare occasions we managed to tear ourselves away from the pool we discovered Todi the lovely Spoleto the Cascata di Marmore and Carsulae which were all worth a trip. Elena and Piero were fabulous hosts and the rest of the staff very friendly and efficient. All in all this has been the best honeymoon we could have ever wished for! Il Cerro we will miss you! I don't know where Dante found his Paradise but we have found it here at Il Cerro! Everything was perfect from the sunny weather to the well appointed kitchen, the hot tub bubbling beneath shooting stars and Nerina the resident cat, who gifted us with a mouse on our final morning. Many thanks to Elena and Piero, who were the most gracious hosts imaginable. We were late arriving and our cell phone did not work. They had the village watching for us and found us shortly after we pulled into the parking lot. Wonderful sight seeing from the private tour of the Abbey San Niccolo ( San Gemini) to the Uffici and Academia in Florence. Don't miss Marmore waterfalls or the frescoes in Assisi. We were also fortunate to be here for the annual festival of the Corsa all' Anello in Narni. Amazing horse races villagers in medieval dress and Italian flag throwers. Paradise all around. We will miss you Il Cerro.

Everything was blooming all across the property and we have enjoyed the peace and tranquillity as opposed to our busy lives in New York. We've especially enjoyed Todi (hint - take the lift up to the top) Orvieto, Assisi,Cortona and Gubbio - don't miss Il Panaro a little road side bar outside Gubbio for the best sandwiches "Torta al Testo". Il Cerro is a great home base from which to see all the beauty of Umbria. Elena and Piero were accommodating and helpful they will take care of your every need. Hope to visit Umbria again soon.

What can we say? What words can we use to describe how lucky we feel to have spent two weeks here. Elena and Piero have been wonderful hosts and nothing was to much trouble for them, thank you to everyone for making this such a relaxing time. We have seen shooting stars, eaten some exquisite food and relaxed to such an extend that we can go back to the UK refreshed and ready to take on the world. Il Cerro is a wonderful retreat a very special place, where the pace of modern life seems a million miles away. Fingers crossed we will visit again.

We had a wonderfully relaxing week at Il Cerro after a fantastic sightseeing in Rome. We only ventured out to shop eat and enjoy the passing life of San Gemini apart from a visit to Carsulae worth the effort. Thank you to Elena for making us so welcome if only we were staying longer.

Il Cerro has been the most romantic places to stay for "La Luna di Miele" a secluded, peaceful paradise. The moment we arrived we received a warm welcome from Elena and Piero they have been stars and so knowledgeable. To celebrate our first weeks we had Daniela cook for us Amazing! Although we speak no Italian we manage to converse in French but besides the food spoke for itself. We have loved Orvieto, Todi and the crown jewel of Montefalco. San Gemini is a hidden treasure it wonderful to sit and watch local life go by. Arrivederci, grazie mille.

It was totally peaceful, away from everyone - just the relaxing experience we needed. It was a home from home with everything you could possibly want, even down to CDs for our enjoyment. My overriding memory is of Vivaldi's Four Seasons wafting through the air as we looked over the grounds and enjoyed the fantastic weather!

It was what it said, A charming freshly-restored Umbrian farmhouse, nestled against a hillside and gazing out over a rolling patchwork of forests. Peaceful & quiet. Belinda and co welcomed us to Umbria with a goody box to die for - pasta home grown olive

We liked the location. The property is maintained but the statement which we feel sums the experience up is attitude of the staff. Each and everyone involved in the property that one comes into contact with is so genuine and caring....
