Overview
Casa Vecchia is a lovely Renaissance manor house set within a forty-acre estate of vineyards and olive groves. Minutes from the wine centre of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, the house overlooks the farms and cultivated fields which cover the hilly countryside between Florence and Siena. Traditional Tuscan features such as tiled floors and high ceilings were preserved during a restoration of the house and are complemented by very nice antique furnishings. Cooking enthusiasts will appreciate the modern kitchen, and rainy day options include wireless internet and satellite television. The dining room and two of the bedrooms open into a charming walled garden with shady trees. An old wooden gate leads from the garden to a swimming pool positioned on a grassed terrace with lovely views of the countryside.

At the western edge of the Chianti Classico region, 2km/1 mile from San Casciano in Val di Pesa which boasts shops and restaurants. A 10-minute drive from the Certosa di Galluzzo, an active Cistercian monastery. In 20 minutes you can be on the Chiantigiana, the famous 'wine' road, or in the centre of Florence (outside rush hour). To the south lie the wine-soaked villages of Tavernelle and Barberino-Val d'Elsa, as well as San Gimignano. Tennis, golf and horseback riding all available within 20 minutes' drive.
