Sunny Saturday

O how i love the weekends; sitting all day in the sun, reading, sketching and taking in every moment. It does not feel at all like the weekend, but i partially blame this on the fact that thursday i was absent (dentist in venice) and then friday i was only at school for the second half of the day.... it was quite a failure though considering it was such a beautiful day outside and only 3 of us were in for the figure drawing. However i did get a bit of work done, i stuck to working on adding some basic shadows to the figure in areas such as the stomach and legs, i also spent a while working on the contour as there is still something not convincing about the legs....however monday i will definately have this in mind when Charles pops in. Just before class ended i was working on adding in some half tones in the upper area of the body however i still feel i need to take a step back and simply check that the contour is correct before going into detail. The head for once is actually working, for once i dont have to spend hours and hours getting my knickers in a twist on whether the brow is to low or to high or whether it looks like she's cross-eyed. Here is a close up of the current drawing,

Monday back to a new portrait of another friend of mine Chiara, this time we are in the flat light which is going to be a nice change from the constant shadow i always need to work with. Then have one more week to work on this figure drawing and then friday i am done with my first year at CC! What a year!!! Weekend is looking quite relaxing, today the 'Calcio Storico' is going on in downtown Florence, hopefully will have some snap-shots as a few friends of mine are going.... weather is looking beautiful for the next week(s) and i hope it stays so, i love italy!
