Italy has over 7600km/4700 miles of coastline and
every inch is as individual as the region it defines.
In Tuscany you’ll find lively villages along a
shoreline that varies from gentle beaches in the
north to the steep hillsides of the chic Monte
Argentario promontory, with the pristine ranges of
Monti dell’Uccellina nature reserve in between.
In Lazio no beach is far from Rome, ruins or
Renaissance palaces - or from a world-class golf
course. The Amalfi Coast and Sardinia are Italy’s
toniest summer resort areas - beautiful, busy and a
delight off-season. There is far more to the Amalfi
than the deep blue sea and impossibly photogenic
villages, for this is the site of Pompeii, Paestum and
Herculaneum. Just down the coast, on the Gulf of
Policastro, Maratea is the country’s best-kept secret
with scenery and beaches to rival its famous
northern neighbour’s - and virtually no tourists.
The ‘deep’ south - Calabria and Puglia - are well off
the beaten track in spite of their glorious white
sand beaches. While Calabria offers a glimpse of
the simple, rustic Italy of long ago, Puglia is packed
with historic treasures, among them the curiously
mathematical fortress of Frederic II, the odd trulli
houses of Alberobella and Lecce’s marvellous
baroque monuments.
You might say that our properties are as diverse
as Italy itself, ranging from glorious Tuscan
farmhouses to historic landmarks stuffed with
antiques and airy seaside villas designed by awardwinning
architects. They come in all sizes. Some
are charming in their simplicity; others are
downright luxurious. But they share the specific set
of qualities that are the hallmarks of a Tuscany Now
property: a spectacular setting, interiors that are
comfortable, welcoming and full of personality, and
beautifully kept grounds with a private swimming
pool or direct beach access. All our private houses
include housekeeping services at least weekly. Extra
