villas near Cortona
Cortona, with its walls that are still intact, sits in a strategic position, commanding the valley that leads south into Umbria and towards Rome. The countryside in this part of Tuscany varies dramatically from soft rolling hills to steep mountains with unspoilt villages hidden amongst small and private valleys. Here you can find farmhouses dating back over 600 years. We have a castle, La Rocca, that is fully staffed and run as a hotel that has been owned by the same family for over 1000 years. Some of our villas near Cortona are far smaller but as a rule they all enjoy a private pool and our concierge service can arrange extra maids and cooks should there be a need in any of our houses. Let us use our 21 years of experience and contact our sales team, put to us your preferences and we shall advise you which of our villas might be ideal for your needs.

Cortona

The Valdichiana - valley of the Chiana river - runs southwards from Arezzo, past Cortona and Montepulciano, to the little town of Chiusi. 16th century drainage projects transformed this erstwhile swamp into Tuscany’s bread-basket, most notably as the traditional pastures of the famous chianina beef cattle (many of which are now raised in the Maremma and Spain). In point of fact, this was the second time the valley had been cleaned up: the Etruscans built the first set of canals almost 2,000 years earlier, but their work was eradicated during the years of turmoil and neglect that intervened. The prettiest village in this section of the valley is, without question, Lucignano, strangely laid out in concentric ovals with a marvellous museum at the centre. Read more...

Clients comments
We have stayed at La Rocca for 6 summers, all arranged through Tuscany Now. La Rocca is the perfect place to wind down and relax in magnificent surroundings attended by friendly staff and being provided with wonderful local food and wine. Tuscany Now make all our arrangements and ensure that our plans for the holiday come to fruition. I cannot recommend the combination highly enough!
(La Rocca)

Beautiful views, excellent kitchen, isolated and private, but still easily accessible. Great local support (Marianne). Beautiful interiors.
(Scopeto)

It was beautifully landscaped, the setting was lovely, the kitchen was fully equiped, great location for us.
(Palareto)

The total peace, quiet, and seclusion of the property were just what we needed for our long awaited honeymoon. Also, the views were breathtaking and the property beautiful. The pool area was sublime.
(Casa Castagno)

Lovely house, beautiful garden and lovely pool-it was wonderful having meals under the pergola with the superb view over the valley.
(Casa Cantagallina)

The villa itself, and grounds were exceptional in ALL aspects. The villa was so amazing, we tended to go to local markets, and cook in the villa; eating outside with fantastic views
