Just north of the Arno River between Florence and Arezzo, both 45 minutes. The nearest village is tiny historic Faella, 2km/1 mile. Castelfranco di Sopra, the larger centre, is 5km/3 miles’ drive. To the east is the Pratomagno range and the Vallombrosa Abbey, 25 minutes. The Monti del Chianti to the west mark the boundary of the Classico region; a pretty road leads through Cavriglia to Gaiole, the closest of the Chianti villages, 40 minutes. For a change of pace, Incisa, 30 minutes, offers a cluster of designer factory outlets.

A large garden with extensive lawns. The swimming pool, 6 x 14m/20 x 46 feet, is set on a sunny terracotta terrace just below the house with loungers and umbrellas.

Assistance is provided locally by the property's very helpful caretaker, who does not speak English and lives with her dog in a flat on the second floor of the villa with a separate entrance.
