The stone Medici crest over the front door of the Villa Nava has given rise to speculation that in the 15th century it served as a stable for a nearby monastery supported by the family. If so, one only hopes their horses appreciated the beautiful vaulted ceilings over their heads and the hand-made terracotta tiles upon which they stood. Both features have been lovingly preserved in the reborn villa and matched with antique furniture as well as contemporary Tuscan pieces. The villa is surrounded by lawns that reach to the edge of the promontory and are dotted with lovely old trees. A dining loggia with a built-in barbeque overlooks the large swimming pool and captures a near-panoramic view of the valley of the Arno River.
