Overview The graceful Villa Lucciano has been in the same family for over a century, the centrepiece of a vast wine and olive oil estate in the gentle hills of the Montalbana wine-producing area south-west of Florence. The large rooms with their high, beamed ceilings are full of old world charm without being in the least stuffy: wonderful antiques sit side-by-side with big, comfortable couches and there are plenty of nooks and crannies that lend themselves to a quiet afternoon with a book or an evening of board games. The nicest of these may be the beautiful columned loggia, which often serves as an alfresco dining room. The bedrooms are spacious and bright, many with private or ensuite bathrooms. The garden unfolds on a gentle slope with wonderful views over a wide valley dotted with vineyards, olive groves and farmhouse. A swimming pool is set into a terrace just outside the house, next to an impeccably maintained all-weather tennis court.
