Overview
An 18th century country house set in the rolling limestone hills famously known as the Crete Senese, Villa Le Focaie is a warm and welcoming Tuscan hideaway ideally located for touring the regions to the south of Siena. Tiled floors and high ceilings keep the interior of the house cool in summer, although life at Le Focaie typically centres on a lovely loggia facing the swimming pool and furnished as an outdoor living area and dining room. Medieval towns and villages of every shape and size are liberally sprinkled throughout this area, which is well known for a variety of wines, food and crafts. The owner of the property, a very well-known jockey and long-time record-holder at the Palio of Siena, keeps thoroughbred horses at a stable nearby and in the meadows around the property.
