The 17th century Villa Fontana was originally constructed as a hunting lodge, situated to take advantage of the abundant wildlife still found today in the wooded hills of northern Tuscany. The villa and its adjacent guest house are set behind tall gates along a very narrow, winding road leading to the beautiful city of Lucca. Their old world charm, large and sunny rooms and glorious pool area more than compensate for the relative simplicity of their kitchens and bathrooms. Living areas open into a pretty garden that spills across the road to the pool, with three furnished loggias for outdoor meals (or afternoon naps). The view from the pool is nothing short of spectacular, sweeping across terraced olive groves and vineyards to Lucca itself.
