Vicchio, 1km/0.5 miles, with the nearest shops, was the birthplace of Fra' Angelico. Vespignano, 6km/4 miles, has a little museum dedicated to its famous son, Giotto. Rufina, 18km/11 miles or 20 minutes, boasts a wine museum. A winding road leads to the Casentino region for hikes around the medieval hermitages of Camaldoli and La Verna. On the way to Florence, 38km/24 miles, stop at Castello for a look at two spectacular Medici villas.
