Vigne Vecchie is an old stone farmhouse with a stunning contemporary interior. Its hilltop position affords magical views of a rolling, pastoral landscape with a glittering Lake Bolsena in the background. Large, comfortably furnished living spaces on the ground floor feature open fireplaces and double doors leading outside to a terrace. Two loggias face the lake, one fitted with a dining table, and the other with a bread oven and barbeque. The swimming pool is set above the house with stunning views over the garden and beyond. Lake Bolsena benefits from a warm microclimate: fruit orchards ring the lake and dense stands of bamboo are a common sight. A great deal very good wine is produced here, notably around Orvieto, to the north, and Montefiascone on the opposite shore of the lake. There is much to explore in the area, which is dotted with Etruscan tombs and interesting medieval villages.
