Barberino Val d’Elsa, 800m/0.5 miles, lies along a beautiful road with views of the Colli Fiorentini on one side and the Val d’Elsa on the other. A hilltop village that has grown beyond its original walls, it has a lovely "centro storico" as do dramatically-sited Certaldo, 18 minutes to the west, and San Gimignano, 25 minutes to the south-west. Florence is quickly reached along the motorway, 35 minutes, but the slower route through the Chianti Classico region on the Via Chiantigiana, 25 minutes, is one of the loveliest drives in Italy.

A pergola in the courtyard serves as an outdoor dining area, as does a loggia next to the courtyard with a fridge and a fireplace.

Tennis is available at Noce (Tavarnelle) and Poggibonsi. 18-hole golfwithin 30 minutes’ drive. This is a wonderful area for walking and biking. Horseback riding, hot air balloon trips, wine tours, cooking lessons, local markets, walking trails all nearby.
