This traditional 17th century stone farmhouse lies outside the walled village of Massa Martana, in the centre of Umbria and near the old Roman-built Via Flaminia. Lovingly restored by its owner, a well-known Italian artist, Rootondaro is a warm and very attractive country home in which antique terracotta floors and wooden ceilings play counterpoint to contemporary paintings and sculptures. The comfortable furnishings and spacious living areas are ideal for a relaxed holiday. A very well-equipped kitchen opens into a wonderful dining room with a long wooden table and a fireplace. A loggia with a barbeque and a large square table offers an alternative dining area on hot summer days. Broad lawns and olive groves surround the house, leading down to the large pool on a paved terrace. Set at the edge of a small mountain range, Rootondaro offers the perfect balance between a peaceful setting and easy access to all that Umbria has to offer.
