Hand-made bricks from Siena were used in the construction of this lovely old building, which has been very nicely restored and updated from top to bottom. At the centre of the house is a vast, open living area with a long dining table and comfortable couches arranged around a fireplace. The kitchen, too, is open, and was designed and equipped with keen cooks in mind. Interesting features abound, from a lovely brick vaulted hallway to a unusual, sculpted sink and antique bedsteads. The views are wonderful, of rolling hills criss-crossed with lines of cypress trees. Minutes from the impossibly photogenic town of San Gimignano, Rosa dei Venti is splendidly located for touring Tuscany?s vineyards and hill villages, for day trips to Florence and Siena, and even for an afternoon by the sea.
