Poggio del Fattore was the active centre of an olive-growing estate for several centuries until its present owners fell in love with the views from the building’s hilltop position and acquired the property as a country retreat. Their recent restoration work has preserved much of the original structure, both inside and out. Clever landscaping, including pietra serena terracing around the house and swimming pool, emphasises the breathtaking views of rolling hills, mountains and distant villages. The gated swimming pool, set on a stone terrace just below the house, has lovely views of hills and olive groves. Olive growing, picking and pressing are, in fact, the major activities in this area, second only to the consumption of the many local specialities in which olives are the key ingredients. Poggio del Fattore lies at the end of a long, private road through a large estate, ensuring complete privacy.
