Overview Perched atop a hill near the delightful Etruscan village of Sarteano, Podere Casalfava even from afar looks like everyone’s idea of the perfect stone farmhouse. And so it is. Originally constructed in the 1700s, it was beautifully restored from top to bottom by its present owners. Windows were enlarged and French doors added to bring the warm Tuscan light inside. The beamed ceilings were preserved, as was much of the beautiful old stonework, but the old floor plan made way for larger rooms, a professionally-equipped kitchen and, most importantly, ensuite or private bathrooms for each of the six spacious bedrooms. Dominating the ground floor is a long room divided by archways into living and dining areas with French doors opening to the large and well kept garden. The bedrooms, distributed over the two levels, are grouped around smaller sitting rooms. Outside, a beautifully kept garden with extensive lawns wraps around the house. A separate summer kitchen and dining room, once the barn of the farmhouse makes al fresco dining a pleasure, and the large swimming pool set below on a lawned terrace beckons to those more interested in tanning and swimming than sightseeing. The quality of the kitchen and bathrooms are of a very high level.
