Le Murice is a splendid five hundred-year old stone farmhouse with outbuildings set on a hill at Basciano, a tiny hamlet just north of Siena and within the Chianti Classico wine-growing area. The house's ground floor living areas all open into a lovely gated courtyard with an arched loggia. A self-contained guest house for two is built into the courtyard walls. The main dining room and kitchen are in a beautifully restored stone barn, also with a loggia, across the courtyard. The interiors throughout are wonderfully furnished with antiques and traditional Tuscan pieces in keeping with the original terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. Le Muricce boasts a beautiful garden of lawns, rockeries, stone terraces and majestic cypress trees. The terraced pool lies at the foot of the garden beneath a row of cypress trees.
