The Rocca di Rasina is one of our most beautiful staffed properties and has belonged to the same family for over a thousand years. Set high in the hills on the Tuscan-Umbrian border, this fully-staffed private home once one of the castles that defended the papal territories is surrounded by eight hundred acres of private land including a vast walled park with iron gates ensuring total privacy. The immaculate drive, sweeping lawns and a beautiful terraced pool area are maintained by two full time gardeners. Unusual for a castle of this age, large windows flood the rooms with bright sunlight to highlight the lovely antique furnishings and burnished terracotta floors. Nearly all the rooms have views of the dramatic countryside and lead out into an inner stone paved courtyard with a built-in wood oven and two large dining tables lending itself to long al fresco dinners, perhaps including legendary local specialties such as Val di Chiana beef and black or white truffles - accompanied, of course, by a fine bottle of the local Montepulciano wine. The owner has arranged many a party or a wedding at this stunning property.
