La Gattaiola is a particularly pretty 18th century farmhouse set amid the terraced hills that surround the medieval city of Lucca. Large windows facing the valley flood the ground floor rooms with sunshine, highlighting burnished terracotta floors, beamed ceilings and antique furnishings. The property boasts an immaculately maintained walled garden with large trees, rockeries and extensive lawns that lead down to a swimming pool on a terrace. Outdoor seating areas are scattered about the grounds, including under a very large loggia where sixteen can dine al fresco at a long table or enjoy a game of ping-pong. A small guest house for two is set on the far side of the loggia.
