Location
Canale, 1km/0.5 miles from the property, is a loose cluster of buildings with a food shop set amid vineyards 20 minutes' drive south of Orvieto. Just up the road is fortified Porano, a winding 4km/2.5 miles, one of the hundreds of villages, many of them spectacularly medieval, dotted around the area. Day trips might include Bolsena and Montefiascone to the south-west (in Lazio), 25 minutes, hilltop Todi, 40 minutes to the east, or Perugia, 1 hour, with Assisi a further 20 minutes.

A small but perfectly maintained garden behind tall hedges. The private swimming pool, 4 x 8m/13 x 26 feet, which has steps for entry/exit, is set immediately in front of the dining loggia. Pool house with summer kitchen and dining area.

A very good area for walking and bicycling along quiet roads. Tennis and riding stables at Canale d'Orvieto (cement courts) or nearer Orvieto. Thermal spas at Viterbo, about 45 minutes.
