The Chianti Classico wine-producing area spans the hilly and impossibly beautiful area between Florence, to the north, and Siena, to the south. A wonderfully scenic road known as the Via Chiantigiana connects the two, winding its way past vineyards and little stone villages.
La Capanna di Scopeto (”Scopeto’s Cottage”) is perched on a hillside just off the Chiantigiana, some 15 minutes north of the splendid city of Siena. The cottage occupies a self-sufficient wing of a lovely old stone farmhouse set within a garden of well kept lawns studded with pines and surrounded by open fields and olive groves.
The freshly-restored interiors are bright and modern, the high wood-beamed ceilings set off by sparkling white walls, colourful furnishings and contemporary art. The large swimming pool is shared with the owners of the property, a very nice couple who occupies the main house.
