Within walking distance [1km/0.5 miles] of the village of tiny Pozzuolo, south-west of Lake Trasimeno. The fortified promontory of Castiglione del Lago offers a castle, beaches and sailing 15 minutes' drive to the north, and to the south is the little hilltop town of Chiusi with its Etruscan tombs and museums. Two more hilltop villages, Montepulciano and Cortona, can be reached in about 20 minutes. Further afield are Siena, Arezzo and Orvieto less than an hour away, Perugia 30 minutes away.

A curved gravel drive lined with clipped hedges and cypresses sets the tone for this well-kept garden. The swimming pool, 7 x 13m/23 x 42 feet, is reached through the pool house and down a short flight of steps. The pool house offers a beautiful setting for al fresco meals in a covered portico with a dining table for 12, a barbeque and a pizza oven. There's also a conservatory, a games room and a gym.

Assistance is provided locally by the property's very helpful caretaker, who speaks a little English and lives in an apartment with a separate entrance on the ground floor. Services included in the rental fee, and optional services available, are noted under Price and Availability.
