Il Cipresso dates from the 16th century, when it came into being as a pottery workshop. It sits in complete privacy at the end of a private drive on a pretty hillside just south of Florence and within one of the key areas of the Chianti wine-growing region. The old stone building has been carefully restored and converted into a small, cosy home with sensational views of rolling hills blanketed in olive groves, vineyards and woods. Designed for comfort and convenience, the house boasts a well-equipped kitchen, satellite television and a good bathroom, all surrounded by a pretty garden with a patio that leads across to a private swimming pool on a grassy terrace and a hot tub. Florence and Siena are easily reached by car or public transport, and there are countless smaller medieval villages and towns within a few minutes' drive.
