Overview
A perfect example of a traditional, charmingly asymmetrical Umbrian farmhouse, Guadajona sits alone atop a vast plateau at the end of a winding road from the village of Bagnoregio. Magnificently private, the property is surrounded in every direction by open fields as far as the eye can see. A string of beautiful old villages encircles Bagnoregio, notably hilltop Civita, the ‘dying’ town which can be reached only by footbridge, and Civitella d’Agliano, a wholly ungentrified medieval village. Guadajona’s façade may look ancient but its interiors are not: freshly restored, it offers lovely ground floor living and dining areas that open into the garden, towards the private pool on its lawned terrace, and a fitted kitchen that opens to an outdoor dining area. A bedroom suite on the same level might suit a guest who prefers to avoid steps. Upstairs, the bedrooms feature sloping, beamed ceilings with nicely designed modern bathrooms and, of course, spectacular views from every window. |
