Alberi, 700m/yards from the villa, is a tiny hamlet in the hills west of fortified Certaldo, 20km/13 miles, and north-west of spectacular hilltop San Gimignano, 25km/16 miles. A restaurant and food shops lie within 1km/0.5 miles of the cottage while supermarkets are in Montaione, 5km/3 miles. To the south is Volterra, 34km/21 miles, inhabited since the 9th century BC. Florence, the Chianti wine region and Siena can all be reached in just over an hour's drive.

A very pretty and entirely fenced country garden with olive trees and a small vineyard. The swimming pool, 4 x 8m/13 x 26 feet, is set among the olives about 25m/yards from the house. Garden swing for children.

Tennis courts and 18-hole golf at Castelfalfi, 14km/9 miles. Riding stables at Mura, 3km/2 miles. The nearest beach is Marina di Cecina, 65km/40 miles. Other beaches can be found at Versilia, Viareggio or Forte dei Marmi, about 80km/50 miles.
