Tarquinia, 5km/3 miles from the property, is a hill town surrounded by Roman walls. Some 3,000 years ago it lay at the centre of the Etruscan civilization; their necropolis and the artefacts displayed at the Palazzo Vitelleschi, are among the town’s prime attractions. But the main draw here is the dark sand beach at Tarquinia Lido, about 7km/4miles.

Assistance is provided locally by a caretaker who lives in a cottage on the property. He speaks little English but the very helpful owner, who does, is easily reached by telephone. Services included in the rental fee, and optional services available, are noted under Price and Availability.

The driveway to the house enters directly onto the “Aurelia” Superstrada, sometimes some road noise maybe heard depending on the direction of the wind. Railway station at Tarquinia, 3km/2 miles, with service to the centre of Rome, in about 45 minutes. Parking for seven cars.
