Casa Verazzano is set within a tiny 12th century hamlet that overlooks the upper Tiber Valley near the hilltop village of Anghiari. The building's ancient stone fatade belies a tastefully updated interior in which many of the original architectural elements have been preserved. Antique furnishings are blended with comfortable contemporary pieces and modern fittings, including a well-equipped kitchen and a ground floor suite specially adapted for wheelchair access. The lovely dining room opens onto a terrace with a beautiful view, where a vine-covered pergola provides a shady outdoor eating area complete with a barbeque. A large swimming pool is set below the house on a terrace of its own, facing the Tuscan hills. There are wonderful walking opportunities in this area, which is very near the birthplaces of both Michelangelo and Piero della Francesca.
