Casa Lavanda is a pretty, freshly-restored stone farmhouse set in a tiny hillside hamlet near the Tuscan-Umbrian border. This is hunting country, where the fields and forests harbour abundant wild boar and deer - as well as a bountiful supply of delicious porcini mushrooms in the fall. The house has been designed for use through the four seasons, with outdoor sitting and dining areas complemented by cosy interiors with beamed ceilings and a very nice open kitchen with a dining table and a fireplace. This is a wonderfully peaceful spot with pastoral views and something of interest within half an hour's drive in every direction: Perugia and Assisi to the east, Cortona to the north, Montepulciano to the west and Orvieto to the south.
