The via delle Ville, near Lucca and west of Florence, is noted for its glorious Renaissance villas and their equally glorious gardens. These were the country homes of Florentine aristocrats, who chose the area for its beautiful views, relatively cool climate and rich wildlife. Buralla is a classic, 17th century ochre-toned country manor situated on a hillside near the village of Segromino in Monte, minutes from two of the most famous villas, Mansi and Torrigiani which are as easily reached on foot as by car. Newly-restored, this grandly-scaled and light-filled country home features five sitting rooms and private bathrooms for each bedroom. The ground floor rooms all open to the garden and outside dining area, with the swimming pool beyond. Both the main house and its self-sufficient guest house for four are beautifully finished and cheerfully decorated in an elegant yet casual style. An endless panorama of rolling hills floods every window. Golf, thermal spas, horseback riding and tennis are all available within a short drive.
