Built from Etruscan ruins, Bellona di Sotto is a classic, charmingly asymmetrical stone farmhouse set in the hills above Lake Trasimeno. Even from a distance the house gives an impression of tranquility and neatness. The recent restoration was done in impeccable taste, leaving the lovely old beams exposed along with sections of the interior stone walls, and contrasting these with crisp white paint and floors laid in herringbone brick or terracotta tiles. The large rooms are flooded with light and cooled by mountain breezes; those facing the valley enjoy wonderful views of lush, forested hills. Each bedroom has its own modern bathroom. The owners’ love of cooking is evidence by the very well equipped kitchen and the two dining areas with long tables, one inside and the other tucked under a beautiful stone loggia. Below the house, a swimming pool shares a sunny terrace with loungers and a shady pergola. A wonderful location for keen walkers or equestrians, the area offers a broad range of trails for all levels.
